What does a Company Accountant do?

As a Company Accountant, you’ll usually report to a Finance Manager or Financial Controller - or directly to the business owner in smaller companies. This is a true generalist role where you’re responsible for:

  • Handling payroll, superannuation, and leave calculations
  • Preparing and lodging BAS, PAYG, and other compliance documents
  • Supporting annual tax obligations in partnership with external accountants
  • Occasionally assisting with HR or office administration (common in SMEs)
