Our client is a highly respected, professional services business with approximately 45 employees and a strong reputation for specialist expertise. Based in corporate Sydney CBD offices, the business offers a polished, professional environment and continues to grow.
This is a 4–6 month temporary Assistant Accountant opportunity supporting a lean finance function through its busiest period. The role can be structured as part-time school hours of four to five hours per day, five days a week, or as a full-time position for a slightly more experienced candidate able to take on additional responsibilities such as payroll and journals. One day working from home may be available once settled, with potential for further flexibility over time. While permanency is not expected, it may be considered for the right person.
Duties include:
Manage time-based billings by following up timesheets and finalising invoices through a clear, documented process
Process trust account receipts, payments and related disbursements accurately
Support Accounts Payable, including supplier reconciliations, payments and payment runs
Assist with cash reporting, bank reconciliations and a small amount of credit control and collections
Liaise with colleagues across the business to collate information and maintain accurate finance records in Xero
To be considered for this Assistant Accountant role, you’ll bring:
Immediately available to start work
Professional services experience ideally from a legal environment
Experience with time-based billings, Accounts Payable, reconciliations or trust accounting will be highly regarded
Open to either the part-time school-hours arrangement or the full-time option
For the full-time option, broader experience with payroll, journals or month-end support is advantageous
A professional presentation, clear communication style and ability to work efficiently with the Finance Manager
