Our client is a highly successful and well-established media production company with a significant presence in the Australian entertainment industry. The business is experiencing continued growth and is expanding its reach beyond traditional media into streaming, digital platforms, social media and international content opportunities.

This role will be instrumental in developing organizational frameworks and reporting for this function, giving you exposure to numerous key business partners.
This is a newly created role with an opportunity to build and shape the royalties function as the business pivots to adapt the market. You won't just be maintaining an existing process — you'll play a key role in establishing the frameworks, controls and processes required to support new business models and revenue streams.
Key responsibilities will include:
Taking ownership of the existing royalties accounting function and driving its continued development
Designing and implementing robust processes, frameworks and controls to support new revenue streams and commercial ventures
Developing scalable royalty models and processes as the business diversifies across new platforms and content channels
Interpreting contractual arrangements and translating commercial terms into accurate financial and royalty outcomes
Managing royalty calculations, reporting, reconciliations and payment processes
Partnering closely with Finance, FP&A and commercial stakeholders to ensure new revenue opportunities are appropriately structured from a financial perspective
Providing financial insight and analysis to support new business initiatives and revenue opportunities
Working cross-functionally to ensure finance processes evolve alongside the changing needs of the business
Supporting the broader finance team with commercial analysis, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
Key requirements for this role are:
Experience in royalties, revenue accounting, commercial accounting or a similar role
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
The ability to interpret contracts and work with complex financial data. Strong Excel is key.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive approach and the ability to work autonomously
An interest in improving and developing processes
CA/CPA qualification or progress towards qualification would be advantageous but not essential with the right royalties experience.
Experience within media, entertainment, production, music, publishing or another IP/royalty-based environment will be highly regarded.
