Accounting & Investment Operations

The Company

This is a high-growth investment management business based in Sydney CBD. Still in its early stages but scaling quickly, the company has a small, experienced leadership team and a no-ego culture where everyone rolls up their sleeves. Some key highlights include:

  • Sydney CBD office with flexibility around working arrangements
  • Ground floor opportunity to join a business in genuine growth mode
  • Collaborative, no ego culture
  • Small, senior team with direct exposure to leadership and investors
  • Real career progression into fund management
  • They'll invest in your development. Training on fund design, investor meetings, and more

The Role

You will sit within the operations team, reporting to a senior member of the leadership group. This is a hybrid role that blends core accounting and finance with fund and investment operations. You won't just be doing the numbers, you'll be across the full lifecycle of the fund. Your duties will include:

  • Own fund reconciliations, account management, and financial reporting
  • Maintain audit-ready records and ensure documentation is up to date
  • Monitor portfolio performance and compliance with fund covenants
  • Prepare monthly investor reporting and performance updates
  • Draft documentation for new investment opportunities
  • Support fund administration, including capital movements and distributions
  • Assist with periodic portfolio reviews and valuation assessments
  • Ensure adherence to fund mandate and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate across operations, finance, and legal functions
  • Contribute to building out processes and controls as the business scales.

Your Background

You will be a technically strong accountant who's ready to step beyond pure accounting and into the world of funds and investment operations. You want more variety, more exposure, and a genuine career pivot – not just another finance role. The ideal background includes:

  • CA or CPA Qualified
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related
  • Experience in audit or transaction services
  • Advanced financial modelling and analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Genuine interest in funds management or investment operations
  • Self-starter who can work autonomously in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Process improvement mindset
