Company Background

Our client is a global industrial leader with operations spanning multiple sectors and geographic locations worldwide. In Australia, the business continues to perform strongly and, as a result of sustained growth, they are now seeking an experienced Financial Accountant for a maternity leave contract.

With offices located in the Sydney CBD, the business offers a flexible working arrangement with up to three days working from home.

The Role

As the Financial Accountant, you will play a key role within the finance function, working closely with and reporting to an experienced CFO. This position is heavily focused on financial oversight, governance, and accuracy rather than transactional processing, which is supported by a centralised finance hub.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Oversight and supervision of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and clarity of financial results
• Reviewing accounts to identify and resolve unusual or incorrect charges
• Managing payroll tax obligations
• Supporting statutory accounting and audit requirements, particularly during the March–June audit period
• Acting as a key finance contact for stakeholders, providing insight and explanations on financial outcomes
• Assisting with ad hoc projects in collaboration with the wider corporate finance team

Your Background

To be successful in this Financial Accountant role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong month-end and financial reporting experience
• Experience working with SAP or a similar ERP system
• CA / CPA qualification (or equivalent)
• Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels
