Our client is a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation providing practical services that support members of the community.
Operating as a close-knit and growing organisation, they have a strong operational focus and are entering an exciting period of development.
With new leadership in place, the organisation is focused on strengthening internal capability, improving reporting and insight, and building a positive, accountable and collaborative culture.
This is an opportunity to join an organisation where your work will have a genuine and visible impact, while working as part of a supportive and down-to-earth team.
This is a newly created, part-time Finance Manager role and a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, improving processes and working closely with operational leaders.
As the organisation's first in-house finance hire, you will have the opportunity to establish and build the finance function from the ground up.
This role would suit a hands-on finance professional who enjoys creating structure, improving processes and using financial information to support better decision-making.
Working closely with the Leadership team, you will set the foundations for a strong finance function while bringing greater visibility, insight and accountability across the organisation.
As the Finance Manager your duties will include but certainly not be limited to:
Own the end-to-end finance function: monthly management accounts, balance sheet recs, cash flow, budgeting/forecasting and clear variance commentary.
Partner with the CEO and leadership team on decision support and board/funder reporting, translating numbers into practical actions.
Strengthen controls and compliance (BAS, super, payroll tax, statutory obligations), maintain asset register and keep the organisation audit-ready.
Oversee AP and payroll processes (with an AP/Finance Admin Officer and external providers), ensuring accurate coding, approvals and on-time payments.
Manage funding/grant tracking and acquittals, support program reporting, and coordinate external accountants/auditors.
Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and data quality to reduce manual work and lift insight.
If you are keen to be considered for this role, our client is particularly interested in candidates that have:
Proven experience running a finance function in a standalone role or small team (e.g., SME Finance Manager / Company Accountant / Senior Accountant stepping up)
Confident building processes, controls and reporting from the ground up
Strong communication style, able to work with operational teams and present to senior stakeholders/board
Xero experience highly regarded
NFP, grant or government funding exposure helpful but not essential
CA/CPA welcome but not required
