APAC Entity Oversight Role

The Company

This is a globally recognised financial services business with operations spanning multiple international markets. The Sydney-based finance team manages a broad portfolio of regulated entities across the region, each with its own financial reporting, compliance and statutory obligations.

The finance function operates with a technology-first mindset and is actively working to reduce manual effort through process improvement and automation. The team is stable, collaborative and led by experienced, long-tenured professionals. People genuinely stay here, and the business invests in the capability of the team around it.

Key highlights include:

  • Highly regarded employer with strong internal tenure and very low attrition
  • Active automation and AI agenda within the APAC finance function
  • Expanding entity structure means the scope of this role will grow with the business

The Role

This is a newly created position within the APAC finance function. With the entity portfolio expanding and the existing team running at capacity, this role has been created to add genuine ownership and depth. You will take full end-to-end responsibility for a defined cluster of APAC entities, including the second largest in the regional portfolio.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Own the full month-end close cycle for an assigned APAC entity cluster, working across pre, during and post month-end tasks
  • Prepare, post and review journals across expenses, accruals, FX revaluations, IFRS 16 leases, intercompany, payroll and revenue reconciliations
  • Own bank statement reconciliations and maintain clean clearing and suspense accounts
  • Own the regulatory deadline calendar for assigned entities, including monthly submissions to relevant financial services regulators
  • Manage the annual regulatory submission package, including financial statements, coordinating with external advisors
  • Oversee annual tax obligations across assigned jurisdictions in coordination with external tax advisors
  • Act as primary finance contact for the annual statutory audit, managing the process end-to-end with external auditors
  • Prepare monthly intercompany workpapers and journals, reconciling to the consolidated trial balance
  • Support the Financial Controller on intercompany charge calculations and transfer pricing documentation
  • Identify and drive process improvements within the close cycle, contributing to the broader automation agenda

Your Background

You are a qualified accountant with solid financial control experience across multi-entity, multi-currency environments. You are hands-on, deadline-driven and comfortable owning a complex entity portfolio with a high degree of autonomy. A background in financial services or a regulated business is strongly preferred.

  • CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent)
  • 8+ years post-qualification experience in financial control, accounting or group reporting
  • Hands-on ownership of a month-end close cycle across multiple entities and currencies
  • Experience managing statutory audits and working directly with external auditors
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting in financial services or regulated businesses (or ability to get across complex frameworks quickly)
  • Experience with intercompany transactions and transfer pricing processes
  • Effective people manager, comfortable directing a direct report while remaining operationally hands-on
  • Background in financial services, capital markets or regulated financial businesses strongly preferred
