Finance and Operations Manager - Legal Firm

Company Background

Our client has been servicing the Arts community with legal advice for over 20 years, offering a range of services, including IP protection, advocacy, education, and legal advice, to name a few. Although mostly funded by the state and federal governments, paid subscription services to artists supplement their revenue streams.

It's a business with a genuine passion for working with Australia’s leading artists, especially within the Indigenous community. This is a 3-day per week part-time role with flexible hours and options to work from home.

The Role

This Finance and Operations Manager role has been created to provide the CEO and leadership team with Financial and Operational support in conjunction with their accounting firm.

More specifically, the role will have oversight of the finance function, including everything from month-end accounting through MYOB, through to:

  • Oversee day-to-day office management, ensuring a well-organised, functional, and efficient workspace.
  • Supervise administrative staff, providing direction and support to maintain high-quality operational functions.
  • Collaborating with external financial advisors and the CEO to ensure accurate and compliant financial practices.
  • Maintaining financial records and assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial reports.
  • Perform basic bookkeeping tasks, including processing orders, subscriptions, and invoices.
  • Managing the grants application process through to reporting to the Government bodies on a bi-annual basis
  • Provide basic IT support and coordinate with IT specialists to resolve technical issues.
  • Assist with HR functions such as onboarding, employee record-keeping, and compliance with workplace policies.

It’s a very hands-on role, so day-to-day responsibilities can vary enormously, meaning no two days are the same …

Your Background

If you are keen to be considered for this role, our client is particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Are open to part-time roles
  • More than happy to be hands-on (not ivory tower folk)
  • Degree and ideally CPA / CA qualified
  • Similar experience in a SME environment
  • Have a passion for access to justice, or the Arts community
