Our client is a successful and growing Australian-owned logistics business operating within the freight and transport sector. The business has established a strong presence in the Australian market and continues to grow. This has created an opportunity for a Company Accountant to join a close-knit team at an exciting stage of the business’s development.

With continued growth across the business, there is now an opportunity to join the team and play an important role in strengthening the accounting function. There is also plenty of scope to improve existing processes and introduce greater efficiency and automation. 

The Role

This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and work closely with the leadership team. You will be supported by an external accounting firm.    

Responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping requirements for the business

• Producing the monthly financial report

• Bank reconciliations

• Managing daily financial transactions, including high-volume accounts payable and accounts receivable

• Working closely with the operations team to ensure freight and invoicing information is accurate

• Reviewing timesheets and approving driver run sheets

• Identifying opportunities to improve and automate the current finance and invoicing processes

Your Background

To be considered for this Company Accountant opportunity, you will have:

• Previous experience within the logistics, freight, transport or shipping industry is a prerequisite

• Experience working within an SME environment in a relatable, broad, hands-on Company Accountant, Finance Manager, Bookkeeper or equivalent style of role will be highly regarded

• Experience with MYOB and/or transport management systems will be advantageous

• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with operations and the wider business

• A hands-on, practical approach

• An interest in improving processes, systems and automation will be highly regarded

• The ability to work effectively in a close-knit, relaxed team environment

This is an office-based role, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with very little to no overtime. Parking is available onsite, so the role is best suited to someone who drives.
