Large-Scale Infrastructure Exposure
Company Background
One of Australia’s leading Infrastructure asset businesses, backed by one of the world’s largest investment firms, is significantly expanding its local footprint with multiple acquisitions of infrastructure projects across power utilities. To support their targeted and ambitious growth plans, the Senior Management team and Board have identified the need for a technically sound Senior Group Accountant to assist with the consolidated and technical reporting for the business and its multiple entries.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will be critical in providing technical accounting and reporting in a highly complex and inquisitive business. More specifically, the role will be responsible for the:
- Oversee daily accounting operations and month-end close for assets, corporate, and entity-level accounts
- Prepare and analyse Profit & Loss statements
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Support month-end group reporting, including consolidations, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Assist in the preparation of Group statutory reports and compliance deliverables under relevant legislation and debt covenants
- Support technical accounting matters (e.g., leases, fixed assets, valuations, financial instruments, M&A)
- Maintain tax calendar and lodgement register, track obligations and due dates for all entities
- Assist with the preparation of Australian income tax returns
- Support tax-effect accounting calculations for the group
- Maintain the tax fixed asset register
- Liaise with the ATO on company tax account balances
- Manage joint venture investments
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Your Background
To be considered for the Senior Group Accounting role, our client is targeting a candidate who is genuinely excited to establish themselves in a newly created technical and reporting role. Best placed to make this role successful are candidates who have either:
- First-time mover from Audit / Business Services or;
- Broad, technical Group experience within a large, complex business (such as capital intense industries, such as Energy, Utilities, Renewables, Infrastructure, Mining or Property)
- Recognised qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Commercial coupled with CA / CPA (or equivalent)
