The Company

Our client has been an established player within the digital retail space operating globally from the US and with offices around the globe including a strong presence here in Asia and Australia. With revenues of well over $2bn and locally closer to $200m they are the dominant player in their space. It’s a matrixed environment, meaning without the hierarchical structure you find in many global companies you can be working with a multitude of peers across a number of business lines.

The Role 

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller and the Head of Finance, APAC, this is not your typical Financial Accountant role. With less of a focus on month-end and reporting, it plays a critical role in working closely with the external auditors and finance team to work through technical and accounting issues across the APAC region. This will include:  

• Planning the audits and financial reporting assignments for the APAC entities.
• Providing financial information to the external accountants and external auditors.
• Working with Finance, the business and other functions to obtain relevant information.
• Working with the local and US tax teams in relation to direct and indirect tax queries.
• Reviewing financial statements prepared by the external accountants and providing feedback.
• Managing the completion procedures as part of the financial statement sign-off process.
• Liaising with external service providers to ensure all audit planning, fieldwork, financial statement preparation, and audit finalisation processes are completed.
• Working with the Finance team to ensure audit adjustments are corrected, where necessary.
• Communicating the status of the statutory audits to the finance team.

Your Background

To be considered for this Senior Financial Accounting position our client is looking for candidates that: 

• Are CA / CPA qualified.
• Have significant exposure to audit processes, either from industry side or from Chartered (would consider a first time mover).
• Are smart cookies that can work in complex, matrixed environments. 
• Has a curious and investigative nature.
