Senior Financial Accountant - Retail

Company Background

Our client is a large Australian retailer going from strength to strength.  While expanding with new stores throughout Australia, they have also recently branched out internationally.

It’s a busy, collaborative environment, where you will support the CFO & Finance Manager to supervise the team's work and ensure timely reporting. There will be questions from operations, the Directors themselves and store managers so that the right person will be confident & articulate.

They expect you to be on-site 5 days to support the business in this way; however, they boast excellent work-life balance and very minimal overtime, even at month-end! 

As the business grows, there is an opportunity to take on more responsibility and progress. 

There are bi-annual performance reviews to ensure your career is being nurtured and you are being remunerated as you develop your skills.

The Role

This role has been created to support the finance team with the following tasks:

• Monthly financial and management reporting, including P&L analysis and commentary.
• Act as a senior member of the team, reviewing work and providing mentorship
• Assistance with Monthly Board Report preparation & presentation
• Ensuring cost & expense controls are followed
• Cashflow forecasting
• Supervision of the transactional finance
• Company tax obligations, including Payroll tax, FBT and BAS
• Business partnering with key stakeholders
• Working with the CFO on ad hoc tasks & reports
• Managing the yearly audit process

Your Background

This is an important hire for the finance team. To be considered, they are looking for someone who meets the following criteria:

• Fully CA or CPA qualified
• You are an experienced Accountant with a minimum of 7/8 years in your field and have reached a Senior Accountant level
• You have supervised staff previously
• Ideally, we are looking for candidates from the Retail sector or a business that is multi-site and/or is inventory-focused.
• You have transport to drive or are near a bus route to easily travel to the office
• Exceptional communication skills.  Both your written & verbal communication is fluent and you are a confident presenter of financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
