Senior Financial Accountant

Dynamic Property Finance Position

The Company

Our client is a well-established and growing organisation in the property sector. We have partnered with the business for over a decade, including placing its first finance hire, and have seen it expand significantly through a disciplined acquisition strategy.

The business operates in a fast-paced, high-performing environment, with a strong focus on collaboration and accountability. Given the level of stakeholder engagement, the team works onsite five days per week.

This role will support the Head of Finance, Directors and operational teams, while also contributing to the management of junior members of the finance team.

The Role

This Senior Accountant role will provide key commercial support to the Head of Finance by taking on the following tasks:

Responsibilities will initially include:

• Assisting with mentoring, reviewing the work of, and coaching the junior members of the finance team
• Manage ad-hoc property-related projects as delegated by the Head of Finance
• Manage month-end processes, including journals, bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly reporting packs, including P&L variance analysis and cash flow forecasts
• Complete quarterly BAS, GST reconciliations and lodgements
• Support asset accounting, including acquisitions, disposals and related journals (land and residential developments)
• Assist with asset valuations, including tenancy schedules, financials and depreciation
• Review and reconcile interest calculations across multiple lending facilities
• Act as the key point of contact with the banks & financial institutions on all queries and ad hoc reports required

Your Background

To be considered for this position, you will meet the following criteria:

• CA or CPA qualified
• Exceptional communication skills. You have the confidence & presentation to be the key point of contact with their financial stakeholders.
• You are currently a Senior Accountant, very experienced in managing a month-end process & supervising staff
• You have experience with bank covenants reporting, ratio calculations, acquisitions and disposals
• Most likely, your experience is from property or financial services, but the client is open to other sectors if you have all the experience described above
• The hiring manager is also open to candidates making their first move from Big 4 who have a strong client base in financial services
