The Role

As the Senior Accountant, you will report to the Financial Controller whilst working in a finance team of 8 people. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Supervision of one junior team member (NZ Bookkeeper)
• Working closely with and being the right-hand person to the FC
• Month-end reporting across both NZ and Australia
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Variance analysis and investigation
• Reporting, investigating, and examining matters impacting financial performance
• Financial reporting
• Assisting with year-end audit
• Maintaining internal controls
• Involvement in value-add projects (e.g. a systems upgrade planned in the next 12-18 months, and the evolution of their BI management reporting)

Your Background

To be considered for this role, our client is looking for a candidate with the following skills and attributes:

• Professionally qualified as an accountant – e.g. CPA / CA or equivalent
• Experience at the Financial Accountant level, ready to step up or already at the Senior Accountant level
• Broad experience incorporating financial accounting and month-end reporting experience within an SME environment
• Our client will consider those wishing to make their first jump from a Chartered Accounting firm
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• IT literate with an interest in learning and evolving BI reports
