The Role

Your role as Senior Accountant will be broad and varied and will provide you with excellent exposure across the organisation.

You will work as part of a finance team of 18 and play a key role in looking after a variety of duties for the QLD division (your role is based in Sydney). Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Prepare accurate monthly management reports, variance analysis, and cash flow projections.
  • Consolidate results and deliver insightful commentary to senior leadership.
  • Support group reporting and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Conduct project financial reviews to assess profitability and performance.
  • Monitor job costing, WIP, and contingency releases.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and accurate revenue recognition.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Partner with Project Managers for cost control and performance tracking.
  • Provide commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit statutory financial returns, BAS, PAYG, GST, and payroll tax.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Project involvement including – contributing to system, processes and reporting enhancements.

 
Your Background

To be considered for this Senior Accountant position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • CA / CPA / CIMA / ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Have worked in construction or a related industry
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting, including project costing, WIP and revenue recognition
  • Experience with analysis, budgeting and forecasting

Anyone who has worked with QBCC regulations will be held in high regard (NOT a pre-requisite, as training can be provided)

Anyone who has worked on projects in multi-state or multi-jurisdictional environments will be held in high regard
