Company Background

Our client is now a leading global player in the freight forwarding industry. Their Australian operation is the golden child of the group and highly profitable. In the last few years, they have grown exponentially, and the finance team has adapted and changed to suit.

It's fast-paced, professional and yet still has that collaborative family feel. The CFO and Financial Controller are seasoned professionals and very approachable.

The Role

This Senior Accountant role will directly support the Financial Controller with a mix of tax and month-end/management reporting tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

• Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements in accordance with accounting standards.
• Prepare work paper for the monthly Group Tax calculation and completion of notes for the  Board pack.
• Collaborate with management to develop budgets and forecasts (P/L and CAPEX)
• Bi-annual reporting on withholding tax to the ATO
• BAS for the 2 entities
• Real-time reporting on vendor payment times for ATO
• Transfer pricing
• Payroll tax reporting and lodgement with Payroll Manager
• VAT compliance for overseas entities
• Overseeing tax for royalties and intercompany loans
• Working with local and overseas tax consultants

Your Background

To be considered for this role, you will have strong tax & financial accounting skills from either commerce or a reputable (mid-tier) accounting firm. You are, of course, CA or CPA qualified.

Key skills the client would like to see are exposure to tax-effective accounting, preparation of workpapers, various ATO reports and strong month-end accounting experience. This can be from a commercial accounting role or within a reputable accounting firm.

Any exposure to international tax calculations is a bonus.
