Build Expertise Alongside the CFO

Company Background

Our client is a well-established, global consumer goods business, and they are looking for a Senior Accountant to join their Sydney CBD head office team.

This is a newly created role and will suit someone who enjoys getting hands-on across reporting, compliance, audit coordination and balance sheet ownership within an inventory environment.

With a close-knit team, they’re seeking someone who is not only capable but also looking for a long-term opportunity to grow with the business. Reporting in to and learning from a talented CFO you will have the opportunity to gain amazing exposure across the company.

The Role

Reporting into a long-tenured CFO, you’ll take ownership of core financial accounting deliverables and support broader statutory/tax reporting requirements, alongside a lean finance team.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Full ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, including investigation and timely resolution of variances
• Managing cashflow and periodic reporting to global stakeholders
• Preparing regular tax reporting (including BAS for AU & NZ and payroll tax obligations)
• Managing intercompany cross-charges
• Producing periodic reporting for global head office
• Coordinating operational aspects of external audit and internal business reviews
• Supporting preparation of annual statutory and tax reporting (including leases and other required reporting)
• Maintaining fixed asset schedules in line with corporate requirements and local compliance
• Supporting process integrity: SOP development, training and cross-functional support
• Coordinating with support teams on accounting administration
• Delivery of financial reporting and support to other departments as required

Your Background

As the ideal candidate for this Senior Accountant position, you will ideally possess the following attributes:

• CA or CPA qualified (or close to completion) and eager to keep building your expertise
• You will have some exposure to an inventory, product or retail environment
• Excellent communication skills and enjoy working with stakeholders
• Thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
• You bring strong technical knowledge in financial reporting and tax, and you’re always looking to continue learning
• You’re a self-starter who takes ownership, applies critical thinking, and enjoys solving complex problems
