The Company

An established and successful Australian food producer is seeking an experienced National Credit Manager to lead its credit function across a diverse national customer portfolio.

Based in Western Sydney and reporting to senior finance leadership, this is a broad role combining credit management, commercial risk, stakeholder management and leadership of a large team.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished credit professional who enjoys operating beyond the traditional collections remit. You will play an important role in protecting working capital and managing customer risk while supporting the commercial objectives of a fast-moving, customer-focused organisation.

Reporting to an outstanding CFO this role will work closely with the senior leadership of the business.

The Role

Leading the national credit function, you will have responsibility for the overall performance, controls and risk profile of the receivables portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, coach and develop a large team of credit professionals

  • Own the national credit management framework, policies and procedures

  • Manage customer credit risk across a diverse portfolio, including assessment of new and existing customer exposures

  • Review credit limits, payment terms and higher-risk accounts, providing commercially balanced recommendations

  • Monitor debtor performance, ageing, DSO, overdue debt and other key credit metrics

  • Identify emerging credit risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies

  • Oversee collections activity, escalations, payment arrangements and complex account resolution

  • Partner closely with Sales, Commercial and Finance teams to balance customer relationships with appropriate risk management

  • Provide meaningful reporting and insights on credit exposure, portfolio trends and areas of concern

  • Manage bad debt provisioning and support forecasting and working capital initiatives

  • Oversee significant disputes, insolvencies and recovery matters where required

About You

You will be an experienced Credit Manager with a strong track record of leading teams and managing credit risk within a complex, high-volume environment.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Significant experience in senior credit management or credit risk leadership

  • Previous experience leading and developing a sizeable credit team

  • Strong commercial credit assessment and risk management capability

  • Experience managing a large and diverse customer portfolio

  • A sound understanding of credit controls, collections, insolvency and debt recovery

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and translate data into commercial decisions

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to engage with senior Finance and Sales leaders

  • A pragmatic approach to risk — commercially minded without compromising appropriate credit discipline

  • Experience within FMCG, food production, manufacturing, wholesale or another high-volume customer environment will be highly regarded

Why Join?

This is a genuine leadership opportunity within an established food production business where credit is recognised as an important part of both risk management and commercial performance.

You will inherit an established team while having the opportunity to further develop the function, strengthen risk management practices and improve the quality of credit reporting and decision-making.

For an experienced Credit Manager looking for greater breadth, this role offers an attractive combination of people leadership, operational ownership, commercial exposure and credit risk management.
