Management Accountant - Education

Company Background

Our client is a reputable educational provider we have worked with previously. They have fantastic organisational values and a friendly collaborative finance team that you would support. Given you will partner with the wider business & department heads, you will enjoy spending time out on campus in a lively & bustling atmosphere.

As they are not going to focus on industry experience for this hire, it could be the change you need from a corporate office environment!

They offer one day of work from home after you have settled into the role.

The Role

The role will support Corporate services, Faculties & the Head of Finance on the following tasks:

  • Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting across all departments, working closely with department heads to gather accurate inputs and achieve alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the comprehensive redesign of all budgeting templates to ensure alignment with the chart of accounts, enhancing consistency, accuracy, and data integrity across all financial reporting.
  • Facilitate the automation of budget consolidation and reporting by leveraging advanced tools, such as Power BI, Excel Power Query, and other budgeting software platforms, driving efficiency and real-time visibility.
  • Analyse and explain major variances and deviations from budget and forecast and identify underlying causes for all departments, capital projects and Staff costs.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor financial and operational performance.
  • Assist with management reporting and month-end tasks where required.

There is plenty of scope to take on other value add projects you may see will support the wider business & finance team.

Your Background

Our client is not industry-focused for this hire. They need a strong Management Accountant to add value & improve the transparency on budget numbers and streamline reporting.

Key criteria:

  • Ability to own a budgeting process, coordinate with stakeholders and consolidate the final budget for the Head of Finance review.
  • Exceptional communication skills & excellent report writing skills.
  • Strong track record of achievements on your resume including the creation of budget models & templates, and systems enhancements.
  • Strong management accounting skills – ideally 5+ years as a management accountant or similar role.
