Head of Finance - NFP

Company Background

Our client is a well-known charitable organisation that works with communities globally.  They have a strong presence in multiple countries with programs with strong financial support from Australia.

It’s a small, friendly team, located in bright, modern offices on the city fringe.

This role supports the CEO, P&C Director and other key senior stakeholders as the business transitions some of its core revenue streams into a new business model.  It’s an exciting time to join as they adapt & change to be successful in the increasingly competitive charitable sector.

Backed by a huge donor pool and grants, they are in a great position to reposition themselves to support the communities that lean on them.

They have great WFH flexibility, a very collaborative team dynamic and great support from the other senior leaders to ensure your success in this role.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage consolidated financial accounts for five regions and oversee statutory reporting.
  • Lead the finance team, ensuring strong performance, development, and daily operations.
  • Review all financial functions — accounts payable, payroll, treasury, and grant compliance to maintain sound financial governance.
  • Work with executives and department heads to provide financial insights that support operational and strategic goals.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, strategic projections, and models aligned with business objectives.
  • Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including variance analysis to support decision-making.
  • Oversee internal audits and compliance across country offices, ensuring effective controls and risk management.

Your Background

We are looking for Finance Managers, Controllers or SME Head of Finance from a NFP/Charity background.

Other key requirements:

  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Consolidation experience
  • Risk & Compliance experience
  • Staff Management
  • Excellent communication skills. You will be the main point of contact for the auditors and the international offices.
  • Agile enough to be hands-on in the accounting where required, but also able to scale up to support the CEO on strategic decision-making.
