Group Accountant - Financial Services

Company Background

Richard Lloyd has been engaged exclusively by a well-established and respected lending and financial services firm that’s experiencing exciting growth. This is a business with a fantastic reputation for delivering real value to clients, backed by an entrepreneurial and innovative culture. Collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of how they operate, and they’ve created an environment where people are encouraged to take ownership, share ideas, and genuinely influence how things are done. If you’re looking for a workplace where your contribution will be noticed and valued — this is it.

The Role

As Group Accountant, you’ll step into a broad and rewarding role where you’ll make a real impact from day one. Acting as the right-hand person to the Financial Controller, you’ll be trusted to take ownership of month-end reporting while also helping to drive forward the budgeting, forecasting, and analysis that underpin strategic decisions.

This is more than just reporting — you’ll be a key business partner, working closely with leaders across the organisation and mentoring members of the Finance team. It’s a great opportunity if you’re looking to step up into a leadership track and be recognised as the “go-to” finance person when the Controller isn’t around.

Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in:

  • Leading month-end processes and ensuring smooth, accurate reporting.
  • Preparing and presenting insightful financial statements and analysis.
  • Partnering with teams on budgets and forecasts to support smarter decision-making.
  • Reviewing performance against key metrics and suggesting improvements.
  • Managing BAS/GST and supporting annual FBT returns.

Your Background

We’re looking for someone who wants more than just a technical role — someone who enjoys stepping up, taking ownership, and making an impact. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong accounting experience, including P&L analysis and forecasting.
  • Confidence in communicating financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • CA or CPA qualifications (or close to completion).
  • Prior financial or lending services industry experience (a plus, but not essential).

Why You’ll Love This Role

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Work in a high-growth, dynamic business where your ideas will be heard.
  • Be mentored by an excellent Financial Controller while stepping into a 2IC leadership role.
  • Join a collaborative culture where people genuinely enjoy working together.
  • Shape the way Finance partners with the business and develop your own leadership skills.
