Financial Controller - Import and Distribution - Western Sydney

Company Background

Our client is a well-established, ASX-listed import and distribution business that enjoys a terrific reputation. 

Over the past seventy years they have grown steadily to become a leader in their sector. As a result of recent acquisitions, now is a unique chance to join the business in a newly created position and take a lead finance role for one of their significant divisions with revenue over $200m.

The Role

Your role as Financial Controller will enjoy breadth and variety. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller and with regular interaction with the CFO, your duties will include (not limited to):

  • Supervision and mentorship of your team of three direct reports (Assistant Accountant, Senior Accountant and Payroll).
  • Financial stewardship of the entire division including, P&L ownership, variance to budget, and analysis. 
  • Working with multiple stakeholders; fast becoming a key finance business partner for other divisions including Operations and Sales.
  • Oversight of payroll (circa 300 employees).
  • Driving process and systems improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring robust controls and compliance are in place.
  • Submission of BAS, FBT returns.

Your Background

In order to be considered for this Financial Controller role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Professionally qualified as an accountant (e.g. CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). 
  • Prior experience working in import and distribution is a pre-requisite.
  • Experience working in a medium to large-sized business (revenue c$100m and above).
  • Proven experience in driving change, adding value and implementing improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities – being able to lead your team effectively whilst also building strong relationships with stakeholders. 
  • Prior experience overseeing payroll is preferred.
