Based in Sydney, they offer a hybrid working model (3 days in the office, 2 days work from home).

The Role

Your role as Financial Controller will be appealingly broad with end-to-end responsibility across team management, financial control, reporting, analysis and business partnering.

Reporting into a talented CFO, you’ll lead a team of four and partner with stakeholders across the business to provide insights, improve outcomes and support key initiatives.

Key responsibilities include (not limited to):

  • Oversee end‑to‑end financial reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual)
  • Act as custodian of the Group’s financial reporting and accounting practices, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements
  • Prepare and present statutory and management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Auditors
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting and re‑forecasting process, supporting the CFO and leadership team with scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Deliver high‑quality financial analysis and commentary, including variance analysis to budget and forecast
  • Provide clear, decision‑ready insights to senior management, Directors and Shareholders
  • Own cash flow management and forecasting
  • Oversee the Group’s management reporting framework, driving efficiencies through business intelligence and reporting tools
  • Own the Power BI financial reporting, including executive dashboards, budget vs actual reporting and variance analysis
  • Translate complex financial data into clear insights using dashboards
  • Introduce and govern AI‑assisted financial analysis where appropriate
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the CFO, Leadership Team and Senior Managers
  • Lead finance improvement initiatives and projects

Your Background

To be considered for this Financial Controller opportunity, you will meet the majority of the following criteria:

  • Professionally qualified as an accountant (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent), having worked in a medium-sized business
  • Proven experience leading a small team while efficiently managing a company’s day-to-day financial operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and partner with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong cashflow management capability
  • Group consolidations experience
  • Demonstrated career progression - either an experienced Finance Manager ready to step up or a Financial Controller in a similar broad role as per the outline above
  • Experience in a relatable industry (entertainment, events, sport, live productions, media, venues, hospitality or similar) will be highly regarded
