The Role

While this is initially a contract role until November, they want someone who can review the team structure and tasks, and lead them through the all-important budgeting period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll, providing leadership and support to the finance team. They would also love someone to review how these tasks are delegated to ensure the team functions effectively.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, journals and financial reporting.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with key stakeholders to develop and monitor budgets across the school.
• Prepare management reports, cash flow forecasts and financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation and statutory reporting requirements.
• Partner with senior leadership to provide commercial and financial insights that support the school's strategic objectives.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks and other key stakeholders as required.
• Contribute to finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

Your Background

Our client is looking for someone who:

• Is CA or CPA qualified. If you have strong school industry experience and are not qualified, please do apply regardless.
• Is currently a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or similar.
• No surprises, but first prize for this hire is someone who has worked in a school previously. Education experience generally will be strongly considered.
• Finally, if you do not have schools industry experience but have worked in another highly regulated, people-focused industry such as aged care or government, we may also consider your application.
• Can commit to the role from July to November as a minimum.
