The organisation manages a sizeable investment portfolio and operates with a lean, high-performing team based in Sydney, with some offshore support.

Due to recent internal changes and ongoing activity, there is a requirement for a Financial Accountant to join the team on a 6–12-month contract while the finance structure continues to evolve.

The Role

Reporting into the finance leadership team, the Financial Accountant will support core accounting, reporting, and compliance activities, including:

• Accounting and Reporting: Prepare and post monthly journals and support the month-end close, including P&L analysis and variance commentary
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations across cash, accruals, prepayments, payroll, and intercompany accounts
• Complete daily and monthly cash reconciliations across multiple bank and payment platforms
• Prepare and lodge BAS, GST, and FBT returns, with support from senior team members and external advisors
• Support payroll tax reporting and assist with tax-related schedules and data requests
• Assist with year-end audit preparation, including audit schedules and responding to auditor queries
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and data integrity within Xero and related systems
• Contribute to process improvements and documentation to improve efficiency and controls

Your Background

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally bring:

• Experience within funds, private equity, venture capital, or broader financial services
• Strong hands-on financial accounting experience across month-end and tax compliance
• Confidence stepping into a role quickly and operating with minimal hand-holding
• CA or CPA qualification underway or completed
• Strong communication skills and a professional, proactive approach
• Experience working in a fast-paced or changing environment
