Our client is a highly successful national construction group with combined turnover of more than $500m. The group has recently acquired two Sydney-based businesses, which will retain their independence and strategic decision-making. As a result, a newly created Finance Manager role has been established to oversee the finance functions across both companies.
Reporting to the parent company’s Group Finance Manager, this position will work closely with the General Managers to support continued business growth.
Initially, the Finance Manager will need to take a hands-on approach, establishing best-practice month-end accounting and reporting processes.
While the title is Finance Manager, this is effectively a Head of Finance role, leading the finance function across both businesses.
More specifically, the role will be responsible for:
Leading the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
Preparing consolidated management accounts and divisional reports
Managing two small, established teams of four staff across accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
Working closely with the General Managers to drive growth
Producing month-end accounts and reporting for Head Office
Preparing monthly WIP reporting by project
Leading the initial budgeting and forecasting process before finalisation by Group Office
To secure this Finance Manager role, our client is keen to speak with candidates who:
Are comfortable taking a hands-on approach and getting into the detail
Have experience working in SME businesses with turnover of up to $100m
Have exposure to project-based or WIP environments, such as construction or engineering, which would be highly regarded but is not essential
Are CA or CPA qualified
