Manage Accounting, Reporting, IFRS 16 Compliance

Company Background

Our client, an established hospitality and accommodation group, is seeking a Finance Manager to join their Sydney head office. This is a permanent role reporting directly to the CFO, offering genuine autonomy, flexible working arrangements including two days working from home, and clear, long-term career progression.

Managing an engaged and tenured team of three Accountants within a broader finance team of eight, the role will deputise for the CFO and be recognised as the ‘go-to person’ for Finance across the business.

The Role

As the Finance Manager, your duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Lead, review and support an established finance team
• Take full ownership of the month-end close and statutory reporting, including reviewing and checking over the Finance team’s work
• Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB / IFRS)
• Manage AASB 16 lease accounting, journals and disclosures
• Oversee year-end and audit processes
• Prepare financial and management reports for senior leadership and offshore stakeholders
• Act as a key finance business partner to the CFO

Your Background

To be considered for this Finance Manager role, you will be a qualified Accountant (e.g. CA / CPA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) and will meet most of the following criteria:

• Technically strong and proven experience with IFRS 16 Lease accounting (this will need to be clear on your resume)
• An excellent attitude to challenge the status quo, with great written and verbal communication skills
• Although industry experience is not a prerequisite, candidates with exposure to hospitality or property would be a great start
