Global Reporting & Leadership

The Company

This is the Australian subsidiary of an established global engineering and industrial services business. The local operation is growing, with a small team in modern CBD offices backed by the scale and resources of a significant international group.

Senior leadership is accessible and genuinely invested in the team. There is structure and support from the global parent, combined with the culture and feel of a lean local operation, where your contribution has real visibility.

Key highlights include:

  • Direct reporting line to senior leadership with genuine influence over the finance function
  • Modern CBD offices with a collaborative, young and professional team culture
  • Opportunity to build and develop a finance team as the business grows
  • Work from home 2 days per week after training

The Role

This is a broad Finance Manager role with full ownership of the local finance function, reporting to senior leadership. You will cover the complete accounting and reporting cycle alongside a controlling remit. The ideal person brings commercial acumen alongside technical strength and is comfortable partnering with senior stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Month-end close: GL reconciliations, variance analysis and timely management accounts
  • Board and management reporting with financial commentary for local and global stakeholders, and forecasts
  • Full statutory compliance: BAS, FBT, transfer pricing, income tax and audit coordination
  • Project controlling: cost centre planning, overhead and hourly rate calculations, and project costing parameters
  • Payroll management and compliance
  • Liaison with global Finance and Treasury on FX risk and group reporting requirements
  • Lead and develop the finance team, with one direct report initially and room to grow
  • Drive process improvement and systems optimisation across the finance function

Your Background

You are a technically capable accountant with a commercial mindset. You understand that finance exists to support good business decisions, not just report on them. You are comfortable operating with autonomy and enjoy being close to the business.

Ideal background includes:

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior accounting or Finance Manager role
  • Experience in a multinational or subsidiary environment, with exposure to parent entity or group reporting, is highly desirable.
  • Commercially minded, able to interpret financial data and communicate it meaningfully to non-finance stakeholders
  • Comfortable working autonomously and delivering results without close oversight
  • Experience in a project-based or industrial business: cost centre management, overhead allocations or project margin analysis (highly regarded)
  • Available on short notice or immediately
