Management Accountant role description:

Reporting to the Finance Manager or Financial Controller, a Management Accountant is primarily involved in providing managers with the relevant information to facilitate decision-making. 

Typical Management Accountant job duties and responsibilities:

A Management Accountant's duties and responsibilities can be varied depending on the organisation, however, they may include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of monthly management reports tracking financial performance against budget

  • Providing commentary on management reports

  • Preparation of cashflow forecasts

  • Variance Analysis around actual results compared to the budget and forecasts for each profit and cost centre

  • Play a lead role in compiling the annual budget with senior management

  • Analysing trends and financial performance across business units

  • Month-end accounting including reconciliations and journals

  • Supervising and training junior staff

  • Taking part in systems and process improvement initiatives
