Our client is one of Australia’s largest healthcare providers offering services from pathology services, radiology, and primary care services through their multi-site clinics around Australia. It’s a fabulous working environment, and the energy of the Finance team is second to none meaning little turnover and a great culture.
As part of their growth, this Leasing Accountant role has been created to add more support to the finance team. Primarily the role will be across the accounting for their leasing arrangements and fixed asset register. More specifically:
Interrogate the leasing software monthly to analyse any changes to leases and subleases
Verify leasing changes against underlying records or seek explanations for unexplained variances from the Property team
Update Powerplan to capture all changes to leases and subleases for the period so that they flow through to the accounting records
Post lease-related journals
Understand how the accounting requirements of AASB 16 result in financial impacts from leasing/subleasing changes
Liaise with the accounting team to highlight any significant lease changes in the month that will create a gain or loss in the financial results
Assist in the forecasting and budgeting process through assessing and communicating likely future leasing events with financial impacts
Oversee the recording of, and accounting for, fixed assets across the medical centres and corporate office
Prepare monthly, half year and full year reporting in relation to fixed assets
Assist in preparation of the CAPEX area of the group’s budgets/forecasts
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations as directed by the Financial Accounting team
The great thing about this role, is you don’t even have to be qualified. It really is the ideal role for someone keen to break into the Healthcare space without formal qualifications. But there are still a couple of considerations that have you at the front of the queue:
All round accounting experience
Exposure to IFRS 16 (leasing) and /or fixed assets
