The Company

​Our client has tripled in size in the last 10 years. Led from the helm by a savvy management team, they have acquired a number of hotels and entertainment venues, also developed properties, making the most of the challenging times.

This role would spend the majority of its time looking after one of the iconic hospitality venues on the Northern Beaches, but also help the team with a variety of work across other venues.

The Role

This role is an Accountant position and you would spend 3 days a week solely focused on the one venue aforementioned. This can be worked from the offices on the Northern Beaches.

The rest of the time would be from the city offices, doing the same tasks to assist the wider team with their venues.

Duties include:

  • Preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss and internal management reports

  • Weekly banking, sales and gaming reconciliations

  • Managing the general ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations

  • Completion of the monthly accruals and journals

  • Analysing operational and development expenses

  • Limited accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll as required

  • Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting

  • Liaison with venue managers to ensure accuracy in their reporting and cash management

Your Background

As you would imagine, our client is very eager to review resumes from candidates who have worked in hotel, hospitality or restaurant related industries. As a second preference someone from a POS sales-based industry such as retail would be considered.

As a minimum you would have a Degree in Accounting. Ideally you are CPA or CA qualified or near completion.

You must be able to produce P&L reports and analyse them. Cashflow forecasting and experience in the core month end functions such as journal, accrual, prepayment tasks are essential.

If you have some experience processing and/or reviewing payroll that will also be highly regarded.

Excellent communication skills are key. You will be working with the operations team onsite 2-3 days a week. Its important you can speak to them about the numbers in a way that non-financial people can understand!
